How many RERA registrations are no longer live
A registration can lapse, be surrendered, be de-registered or be revoked. The registers record which — and the totals are not small.
A project's RERA registration is not permanent. It runs for a declared period, and it can end early: surrendered by the promoter, revoked by the authority, de-registered, or simply allowed to lapse. Each is a materially different event, and each is recorded.
For a buyer this is the single most consequential line in a filing, and it is also the one most likely to be out of date on a listing site — a project advertised today can carry a registration that ended two years ago.
This counts every non-live registration state in the corpus, by state and by kind.

How this was counted
- The status string on each record is read for the terms the registers use — revoked, de-registered, lapsed, in abeyance, surrendered — and counted under that heading.
- Only states that publish a status term at all appear. A state absent from the table publishes no lifecycle status Horizon can read, which is not the same as having none.
- A record with no status term counts as neither live nor ended; it is simply not in this table.
What it does not show
- The count reflects the register as of Horizon's last read of it. A registration restored or renewed since then will still appear here until the next ingest.
- The terms are not used identically across states. “Lapsed” in one register may cover what another calls “expired”; they are grouped by the word the register itself uses.
- A lapsed registration is a fact about a filing, not a judgement about a project, a builder, or a buyer's position. Many lapse for administrative reasons after a project is complete.
